Telemark Skiing!!

The other day, Gina agreed to give telemark skiing a whirl so we rented her some skis and hit up Alta for an afternoon. I tried teaching her, but luckily she was a better learner than I was a teacher and she got in some good-looking turns! A few more practice days for her and she'll be ripping it up free-heel style :-)

Unfortunately I forgot to take out the camera while we were actually on the runs, but I did manage to get a shot while we were on the lift.

Gina's 24th!!

This last weekend was a three day weekend because of President's Day on Monday and it was also Gina's 24th birthday on Sunday. On Sunday evening, the Fords were nice enough to offer thier cabin for a get-together with a bunch of our friends at Sundance and to let us stay the night. We had a blast playing games, eating good food, and just hanging out. Here's some pics, enjoy. And Happy Birthday GINA!!

Happy New Year

Mocktail Party 2006
We hosted our own "virgin" Cocktail Party for New Year's Eve this year. Bradlee worked the "bar" and blended up some tasty and refreshing Mocktail's for our guests. He even managed to aquired a tip jar! The Mocktail Menu included a Raspberry Colada, Cherry Tonic, and Ginger-mint Lemonade among others. The party was a blast and we had tons of fun playing charades and other games with our good friends. The Ladies beat the Fellas in every round! A great way to ring in the new year if you ask the females. At midnight we celebrated by blowing horns and toasting one another with sparking cider. It was clear enough outside that we could see some fireworks throughout the valley. We wish all our loved ones a very adventurous, successful, and fulfilling 2006.

Gerbera Daisy Close-up

Since it has just been snowing since about Thanksgiving, we haven't gone outside much the last couple of days. We can't wait to get out and go snowshoeing though!! So while we've been holed up in the house, we decided to take some pictures of things around our house. Here's one picture of a Gerbera daisy that we bought.

And here's a picture of our mug rack in the kitchen. Kind of a fun perspective on this one and the depth of field turned out nice too.

Laura's Halloween Dance

So, back to our Halloween Party, we got some really good video footage of an unusually skinny football player dancing with a larger than life cheerleader. The video turned out a little dark, but as you can tell, it sure was fun!! Click the video stills below to see the footage.

Dan got his mission call!!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Well, we have some good news! Dan (Brad's brother) got his mission call! He'll be going to the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Mission. We are so excited for him and we think it's a perfect fit! Nobody guessed that that's where he would go, but Lee almost put down New York which was close. We think he'll get the perfect mix of Amish country and big city life. He'll be going into the MTC on February 1, 2006. So, as a celebration, here's a picture of Philadelphia! Thanks Photodisc and to the USAToday for the picture.

Halloween Par-tay!

Last Saturday night Lisa and Chris Peterson were nice enough to throw an awesome Halloween party! It was complete with witches brew, pumpkin everything, dancing, donut eating, dead person's body parts, and good food! We all had a blast and would like to thank them for letting us trash their house ;-) Anyway, here are some of the pictures from the party:

UTAH!!!!!

Well, as I was riding my bike down to work yesterday, I was just enjoying the early morning hours and looking around at the mountains towering above me. All of the tops had been dusted with a light layer of snow, almost as if just to taunt me and make me wait for the ski season a little longer! The roads in the valley were still wet from the overnight storm and the mountain peaks on the West side were glowing orange from the sun coming up. It was a beautiful scene. So, this post is dedicated to UTAH!! These particular pics are from Nortah (Northern + Utah = Nortah). I've just included the links to most of them, but here's one for starters just to whet your palate. All of the pictures were taken by Brad or Gina Duncan and may not be reproduced without permission.

ARCHES PIC (SEE BELOW)

So, Gina just posted up one of our Arches pics. That's the pic of us at Delicate Arch at about sundown. The light on the arch was good, but because we were in the shade it overexposed the background a little too much. I am trying to hone my photography knowledge and hopefully I'll be able to start up a photo website or photoblog or something like that.

At arches, Gina and I did a couple of short hikes, we first went to Landscape arch, Double O arch, and Partition arch in the Devil's Garden area. Then we went over to the Windows area and did the short hike to North Window with a view of Turret arch. After that, we went to Delicate arch and stayed there until after sundown. From there we were pretty much beat, so we headed back to Devil's Garden campground and cooked up dinner then hit the sack! It's always nice to get out in the great outdoors and enjoy God's creations, especially with loved ones. We had fun, and can't go back soon enough. Next on the list will have to be the rest of the Moab area...
