Independence Day

Family, hiking, swimming, BBQ, fireworks. Perfect.I took my family hiking-they thought I was trying to kill them. I wasn't. We almost had to helicopter my mom off the hill (her wishes, not mine) because she literally thought she was going to die. She didn't.

They forgave me once they had cooled off in the pool. BD grilled us some delicious burgers (80/20 ground chuck) like only he can, and we ended the evening watching fireworks all over the valley from the deck. Almost forgot, Brook made her delicious white balsamic tart...isn't it beautiful?
God bless the USA!

And it was indeed delicious (the tart as well as the burgers, swimming, hiking, etc)

Hooray for Gina's blog! Can't Brook just post her own Tart, on her own blog (help her!!) so that we can all feel like crap after making pre-made AND pre-cut pillsbury cookies for the 4th! She has always been an amazing cook, thats why we let her live in our college apt. rent free...she just had to COOK for us, it was a win-win! Love the pics! Saw your mom in the parade, her wave was better than any other float "princess"!
p.s. My Mom needed a helicopter to get down the BYU stadium bleachers! :)LOL!

doesn't get better than that. although i am a whiner and complainer with your mom when it comes to hiking. she and i could have split the cost if i was there.

I can't believe how big Brook's kids are. How old is Marley? and I can't remember his name but he looks just like Brook it's crazy. Sounds like you had a great 4th!

Marley is 12 and KJ is 10 (I think!). And yes, he looks just like Brook!

It wasn't until the clouds cleared, the temp hit 98 and the climb went vertical that your new nickname was born...Gina Meana! Totally worth it. Thanks for a great 4th, we'll be back next year for another Gina Meana hike. BTW Char: my Mom's demands for a helicopter reminded me of a certain Yellowstone hike! As for the blog- some of us can write, some of us can bake but only Gina can do both with so much style and grace.

Okay...that hike and the part about almost dying looks a little too familiar...did you go back to the living room?
Looks like a fun holiday! Thanks for giving in and going down the slide with me! :)
