Rivalry Shmivalry

I'm not a football fan by any stretch of the imagination. I barley know the difference between off-sides, on-sides or why spandex can look so good on muscley legs. Or does it look bad? This is what I'm thinking about on those rare occasions when football is on at my house, so you can see my dilemma here. But when it's rivalry time in these parts I'll admit, I'm... er, interested.

I graduated from BYU. BD graduated from the U of U. And people around here are sometimes outright flabbergasted that our marriage is able to work AT ALL. People, let me explain something to you. If I wasn't able to maintain a relationship with someone over of a college football team, I would voluntarily commit myself. Just for the record, we are doing fine, even during this Holy War. Now if you wanted to talk about BD using my bathroom garbage bin as a receptacle to catch fluids leaking from the underbelly of my car during his do-it-yourself lube job, then we can discuss a real marital war.

I grew up in "cougar country" going to BYU football games during the Ty Detmer era and when my dad had season tickets on the 50 yard line. Admittedly, it was a good time and I have some fond memories surrounding BYU football. And when the coug's are not playing the ute's I might be guilty of feeling a tinsy-tiny bit happy when they are winning. If I concentrated real hard all day and ate only chocolate covered cinnamon gummy bears from the Wilk then I might actually be able to consider myself a BYU football fan. It is my alma mater after all.

However, this is where I draw a BIG RED line:

I really don't know anything about football at all. I can't really even tell who is winning because there's always hundreds of numbers all over the screen. But... I do think it's fun to cheer for the winning team. I'm a total fair weather fan.

It's too bad that so much apostasy occurs at "that school down south."

That was quite entertaining and hilarious, where did you find that? WOW!! I relate with you about the part with the cinnamon bears from the Wilk and I feel as though I have to be somewhat of a cougar fan just to bug Clint!!:) Although this year I gotta be honest I am a little skeptical. I am sure it's pure MADNESS up there!

So glad to hear you and Brad can make it through such trials! :)

I'm a Ute and he's a Coug and it will be 10 years this May...it can be done. :)

Hi Gina, that video was ridiculous, but a good laugh because there are people who really think that. I've made my blog private for safety reasons so email me at brittanycornelius@hotmail.com and I will add you!

Oh nooooooo! I'm so embarassed for whoever did that. I'm with you on the whole football thing. I can have it explained to me over and over and I still couldn't explain what a "down" is.

Thats hilarious!!! (It's suppose to be funny right?) Actually I do love football-I grew up with 5 brothers and my dad who view college football as close to religion as it can sanely get. I married a man who could quite possible love it even more than my dad and maybe one brother combined-I like college football, that was until I moved to Pittsburgh-the pros, now this is insanity(at least when your talking about Steeler fans)-when your neighbor has 5-12 foot blow up figures (Ben Roesthlisberger, Hines Ward, Troy Paulamalu, Willie Parker and Jerome Bettis)-you have NEVER seen anything like these fanz-church ends NO JOKE when a big game starts. Now the real crazy part- I'm thinking about getting a blow-up figure of Ben-I think I love him!!!!!(Sorry Trent) now for the longest friend comment ever.......
