all that i heart - day 11

I heart Chocolate! Honestly, I was really really trying hard to avoid posting about chocolate. I think I've made it perfectly clear over the last few days that I'm overly and unfortunately passionate about all the wrong foods. This is why I need therapy. Lots and lots of expensive therapy. It's a girl thing, chocolate. Case in point: I bite into a slice of something dark and sinfully decadent and a noise comes out of my throat that immediately brings shame upon my family. I come to, just in time to find a look of pure bewilderment sweeping across BD's face. So I put down the fork and touch his leg trying to rescue the situation by ESP-ing "no babe, I love you more" with my eyes. I'm not complaining. BD is a perfectly amazing husband who, after I have torn every last item out of the kitchen cupboards and still have found no worthy chocolate, will oblige me by driving nearly 20 miles to Dairy Queen in Centerville for a dipped cone because they have a drive-through and I'm refusing to wear shoes at the moment.

Today I witnessed dear friends bury their first-born infant son. So much sorrow. So much heartbreak. So much I don't know what to say. I wanted to hug them both forever to let them know how much I care. And how much I desperately want to know the right things to say. And how I know I never will. And through all my blubbering and tears while Alex held my hand I thought if I only had some chocolate to give her, then she'd know, and I then wouldn't have to say what I can't seem to say at all.

(Sorry I had to delete my original comment because I was signed in as someone else)

mmmmm, chocolate. i am glad to know that i am not the only coco-loco person out there. i ran to the store yesterday just for chocolate (Ellie lets me eat it now) because we had a "winter weather advisory" and I didn't want to be stuck in the house without it!

and my heart hurts for your friends. their baby was beautiful.

It must be a girl thing, because I too love chocolate! Just like Jess, I was in tears too. How awful for your friends, I seriously ache for them. Did he have some sickness or what happened?

Did you ever think of going into writing? You are always so clever and witty with your words. That made me laugh because I've made Nate drive to Sonic to get me me latest chocolate craving (I wish it was only while I was pregnant) You also put me in tears about your friends. That ripped my heart out for them (especially thinking about losing Boston) What happened?

I love Chocolate! Especially See's strawberry cream truffles. They are made with real strawberries and are AWESOME. My heart is broken for your friends. Just like everyone else, I was in tears.

Lauren, I'll have to try those...they sound divine.

The Thomas' really don't know what happened. Their little guy was born with several complications including Downs Syndrome and heart defects. All of it was unexpected and went undetected during pregnancy. So you can imagine the shock and heartache. They are such valiant people with enormous faith and have really broadened my perspective about life after death.

Wow chocolate is a gift from God, as are Children. It breaks my heart to hear that your friends lost their first baby so suddenly! He must be one special little guy to be given the opportunity to have a body and then return to our Heavenly Father so quickly. They are in my prayers.
