all that i heart - day 6

I heart Aprons! Indeed it seems very old fashioned, but I have developed quite a crush on aprons. I almost can't say that without blushing a little. And yes, I love to wear them too. I was lucky enough to win 2 beautiful aprons at....wait for it...Bunko! last year. Plus, I almost never leave home without my trusty oilcloth apron because you never know when you'll need it next. If someone told me that I had 30 minutes to pack and ditch town before disaster struck, I would grab my oilcloth apron as a bare necessity. It's probably the most bomb proof thing in my home. And seeing how it lives in my kitchen, it's had plenty of scares.Which also brings up a good point about my sewing abilities. That thing, you know, with the needle and bobbin, and the foot contraption that either goes too fast or too sloooow...yeah that thing is considered the ugly step child of my domestic neglect. I should remedy this. Or at least ruin some exquisite fabric trying. I found this amazing apron pattern here, and so it shall be my first attempt to sew in years. Now I just need to find the perfect fabric and recruit the perfect person to help me pull it off.
Mom, if you are reading this, we should hang out soon.

Want to hear something sad... I don't even own an apron!! Maybe I should look into it!
Thank you so much for the book- I love it (and the visit too!)

Those are so cute! I love the one with the big bow! You'll have to let me know if they're easy to make. I would totally cook more if I looked cute while doing it. :)

That is really cute! I may even have to try out my sewing machine (that I got 3 years ago for Christmas and I think I've taken it out of the case 2 times---just to look at!!!--pathetic, I know!) Maybe we could have a "sewing day"?

Love that apron! I have a bunch a cheap-o ones that I stole from my mo when I moved. I need to get a new one, but I look and look and I am so indecisive that I just give up. You have given me the drive that I need to make one for myself too.

So I'm curious, (and clueless) what is an oilcloth apron? I've never heard of one?
Very cute apron btw!

Jess, I've been obsessed with oilcloth for a while. It's like plastic covered fabric, kind of? Check out www.oilcloth.com, most fabric stores carry some types of oilcloth. I love all the vintage patterns.

That's such a cute apron. It's a shame it's only to be worn in the kitchen...I'd wear that thing as part of an outfit anyday :)
